Complaints about inadequate translations are frequent now in the forum. I think one factor about this problem is that the number of games on BGA increases so fast (which is generally appreciated) that we don't have enough translators of high quality to translate or correct everything.
In this thread boardgamearena.com/forum/posting.php?mode=edit&p=157282 the user named nessi made a suggestion I think would be quite helpful to increase translation quality:
"A suggestion would be that the system records how many translations of a translator (in percentage terms) are corrected: above a certain value, the translator receives a warning that his translations are not good. If the value rises higher, he is blocked (temporarily at first?) for a while."• Displegit deomp, mar-plij, ar pezh ho poa c'hoant d'ober, ar pezh ho peus graet hag ar pezh a zo c'hoarvezet 'benn ar fin

1. Who says, that the edited version is the correct one? If someone aims for gift points only, he/she can edit existing perfect translations, and even can destroy them. The original translator will get blocked, the second translator destroyed the perfect translations and (if nobody notices that that next 30 days) will get gift points for that.
2. Who says, that the original translation is wrong? Maybe both translations are correct, e.g. you can translate "source" into German using "Quelle" or "Ursprung". It could happen, that at time of first translation, the official German rulebook was not available, so that both translations are correct. Later, the German rulebook gets published and someone changes all occurrences of "Quelle" to "Ursprung". The first translator did nothing wrong, because he could not know, that the German publisher prefers another translation.
Therefor: Please do report people that do bad translations, so that a moderator can check and block him/her. But do not automate this process.
The community does, just as it does now. This is the way, BGA has "solved" this problem. Of course, this system is not free from errors or the possibility of exploiting it. But unless BGA implements a huge change, it's the system we have. I think automatic blocking would improve this system significantly without much effort.
I'd prefer moderating as well, but due to the high demand for linguistic staff it's very unlikely BGA wants to handle each case this way. And there are many (at least in German)!
