Welcome to a world where art meets tactics, and color flows like a river!
INK, the latest tile-placement puzzle to splash onto Board Game Arena, is here to dazzle your mind and your canvas.
At first glance, this title may look like a simple, beautiful little game. But oh, how deceiving appearances can be. What starts as a peaceful foray into the world of brushstrokes and blotches quickly becomes a full-blown strategic obsession. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
Paint, Plan, and Pot Ink
You begin your masterpiece by picking up colorful tiles from a central circular market (yes, there’s a bit of rondel magic going on). Each tile is a splash of potential, a burst of color waiting to find its place in your ever-growing painting. But you are not just going for aesthetics here. You are building color "routes" - flowing rivers of ink- trying to connect hues and reach numbered spots that let you drop your precious ink pots.
Sounds simple? Here’s the twist: you have only got a specific pair of colors to work with, and only half of your ink pots are available to start. Some pots go down lid-up, some lid-down, based on whether you landed on a blank or numbered space. Why does this matter? Because only the right-side-up pots can be manipulated later using powerful bonus actions. And trust us, you will need those.
Every tile you place feels like a brushstroke in a grand composition. Every pot you place is a step closer to completion or a well-laid trap if you are not careful.
Oh, and about that lovely circular market? Every time you complete a loop, you are forced to pick up blocking tiles that clog your perfect palette and start covering up valuable scoring spots. Timing, pacing, and planning ahead are all essential if you want your masterpiece to shine.
Easy to learn, hard to master, and endlessly replayable. Whether you are in it for the aesthetics or the cutthroat color-claiming competition, INK has something for you.
