• Mar-plij, eilit/pegit ar gemennadenn fazi a zo war ho skramm, ma zo unan.
In the game options you can choose between english and german rules, but I can't find an explanation about the difference. So do I have to read both (not many players do know both languages!) and find out by myself?
The difference should be explained, best in the option selection itself. If not possible, even shortened to keywords (because the texts were too long), I suggest to at least explain it in both the short rules (which can be translated into different languages) and the game's forum boardgamearena.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=667 -

Roll-istor an danevelloù bog
Describing them in the games options is the perfect place, so I don't think they need to be explained anywhere else :-)
I thought about shortening the texts (e. g. you don't have to explain what is the same in both rules) and make them easier to read. So this is my suggestion:
English rules:
- Apply Hoovermatic (pay gold) before Alchemister (get gold)
- Wandering gnome is moved when buying a mining right in Diamantina
- Drawing cards: NOT allowed to keep the card you already had
- Discount: Minimum prize is 0
German rules:
- Apply Alchemister (get gold) before Hoovermatic (pay gold)
- Wandering gnome is NOT moved when buying a mining right in Diamantina
- Drawing cards: Allowed to keep the card you already had
- Discount: Minimum prize is 1
What do you think about it?
The problem is the following:
If you create a table this complete description is given to all players who are just looking for a game to play.
For them it is an "information overflow" because they are just in the situation to decide what kind of game (option) they want to play.
And what they now see is this very, very long text and this looks just very complicated...
If I didn't know the game I would prefer to look for another game which does not look so complicated...
Isn't there any better place for describing the two options?
For the option selection I still prefer something like this:
"Original Lookout version/English version"
"Original Lookout version" and "English version"
Let me try to clarify this... I will come back with this issue soon.
I strongly recommend describing the rules directly in the options. Players should know what they choose, without looking anywhere else.
Otherwise, they will probably use the default. This may lead to misunderstandings and complaints from the players.
I understand it in the following way:
If you configure a table you have (1) a headline (2) options (3) an info-text (e.g. (1) Version (2) BGA-Version (3) Cost reduction for mining, soil sample free of charge and improved 2 game play)
Currently the other players can see (when they are looking for a table) the complete (3) info-text which is far too much! This text must be shorter!
This should be changed like in other games (e.g. Caverna)
The other players (when they are looking for a table) should only see the text from the (2) options (and not (3) info text)
So what they should see is e.g.:
Discounting Artifact Costs (expert), BGA-Version, Original Lookout Rules (recommended)
So we need to change the texts for the options like following:
The Headline:
Original Lookout / Z-Man Rules
The 2 options:
Original Lookout Rules (recommended)
Z-Man Rules
The info text: (Can be like cigma suggested, with line breaks for better visibility)
And a small change in the "Version" because the word "Original" should not be used twice:
The Headline:
Version
The 2 options:
Standard
BGA-Version
The info texts:
Standard rules
Cost reduction for mining, soil sample free of charge and improved 2 game play
