I indeed didn’t foresee the final turn and end of the game. In at least two games I’d finished a route in the final turn if I’d have known that it was the final turn. A pop-up message or something would be a nice solution
In the rule on page 4, the recovery of a carriage is dealt with in paragraph c, which is the last event concerning the winner, since the discarding of cards (paragraph d) is completely useless when you no longer have an opportunity to play them.
So I think it is logical to announce the end of the game after the end of the winner’s turn, even if his victory is due to the installation of all his houses, which does not exclude that he can receive a carriage of any value during the same turn.
In addition, I propose that the "End of Game" tile be displayed in the player panel after its allocation, since this information is supposed to be known to all players.
- At some other games there appears a highlighted line on the screen which warns the player about the last round (like at Builders for example), Thats really hard to miss. :) -
Specially for Turn based, for playing several games at a time.
Or if the game time is long.
While people do need to be paying attention, like looking at the log to see what everyone else did (cause paying attention is important in the game, especially when end-game can be coming), it's still just too easy to miss that tiny little message in the middle of someone's move. I just now triggered end game and couldn't find that message even when looking for it. A big giant ALL CAPS red message up top is what is needed.
