The PDF rulebook states at episode 11 under "Fortresses: From episode 11 onwards, the compass side of the dice again has a special meaning. When the compass is rolled, [...] a fortress is constructed instead." That includes episode 12. Yet in current version, compasses are ignored in episode 12.
This misinterpretation can cause a player to get locked out of a portion of the board in episode 12 as is happening to me in that game. I misplaced my fortresses in 11 and couldn't surround the bandits. Those fortresses are taken away for episode 12, but no new ones can be built to allow me to attack the bandits again. The way the bandits are configured, I will not be able to surround them at all without new fortresses. -
