This implementation of Letter Tycoon provides three dictionary options: NWL (NASPA (North American Scrabble Players Association) Word List), CSW (Collins Scrabble Words, commonly used for UK or International Scrabble), and 12dicts (with fewer rare words, meant for casual play). These are some of the most common and respected dictionaries used in word games; the first two are the standard Scrabble tournament dictionaries.

No dictionary is perfect, and inevitably opinions will differ about whether individual words should or should not be included. But by selecting a dictionary that most closely matches your background and play style, you can improve your experience.

For example, you will find that the CSW dictionary does contain EXOTICISE (as well as IONISE), while NWL only contains the latter. In general, CSW contains the most rare words. If that is what you prefer, then I recommend that option.

Every dictionary must draw a line between the words included and those not included. I don't know the process that led the NWL to include IONISE but not EXOTICISE, but I'd guess that the former is somewhat more common than the latter in North American English. (In contrast, it seems EXOTICISE is common enough in British or International English to be included in CSW.)

Regardless, I'm not in the business of crafting dictionaries for word games, which is why this game provides a selection of dictionaries carefully designed by experts and used for word games all over the world. Since neither you nor I are dictionary-crafting experts, I won't make modifications to these standard dictionaries based on either of our opinions.
